The Louisiana College women's  basketball team will make its 11th American Southwest Conference tournament appearance on Thursday when they take on 2017-18 ASC Western Division Champion University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. LC returns to the tournament for the second straight year as the fourth seed from the ASC Eastern Division. The Lady Wildcats have an 13-9 record in the ASC Tournament, is a four-time runner-up, and has won one championship in the event.

The Wildcats will take on UMHB in a 2:30 p.m. start on Thursday, the second quarterfinal game of the opening day. LC finished the regular season at 14-10 overall and 10-8 in ASC play to claim the #4 seed from the East Division. The Wildcats won 10 conference games in the regular season for the first time since the 2013-14 year. The Cru won the ASC West for the second time in their history this year with a 21-4 overall record and 14-3 conference mark. They are making their 14th tournament appearance with a 9-13 record in the postseason event. Mary Hardin-Baylor has never won an ASC title, falling the title game three times, most recently in 2014 to the University of Texas at Tyler.

UMHB won their only matchup with LC this season, 79-67, a game played in Belton, Texas on January 4. In the game Brooke Jones led the Wildcats with 19 points in the game, but was held to just four total rebounds as LC was out manned on the glass 52-31 in the game. After falling behind by 10 after the first quarter, the Wildcats battled back to within a single point by the end of the first half, thanks to a 51 percent shooting clip. Unfortunately the Wildcats could not maintain that level of shooting in the second half, going for 38 percent in the third and fourth quarters, while the Cru shot exactly 50 percent to finish the game. The winner of the LC-UMHB game will advance to Friday's Semifinal at 7:30 p.m. and face the winner of the UT Tyler-Concordia matchup. The potential second round matchup this year is exactly the same as last year's for the Wildcats.

The Tournament Championship Game will be played on Saturday at 6 p.m., with the winner earning the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament. The Wildcats made four straight conference championship game appearances from 2010 to 2013, falling in the title game in three straight years after winning their only conference championship in 2010. LC made an exciting run to the title game last season after knocking off tournament host Howard Payne in the first round, then taking down division foe UT Tyler in the semi-final.

Senior center Brooke Jones leads the team in scoring (16.0) and rebounds (6.9) for the second straight season, both ranked in the top 15 in the ASC. Jones has scored 369 points this season, the most in a season in her career. Senior guard Kourtney McGhee has also had a career season this year and ranks 11th in scoring (13.1) and sixth in assists (3.7) in the conference. Transfer Jonika Walton is second on the team and 17th in the conference in rebounding with 6.0 per game.
