The Louisiana College baseball team will make its 10th American Southwest Conference tournament appearance on Friday as the No. 8 seed in this year's tournament, and take on No. 1 University of Texas at Tyler in the first game of the Blue Bracket. LC is making its return to the conference postseason after a two year absence, that broke a streak of five consecutive trips to the tournament. LC has an overall record of 7-19 in ASC postseason play, was a runner-up in 2013, and is still looking for their first tournament championship.

The Wildcats will take on UTT in the second game of the opening day, starting at 7 p.m. Friday afternoon. LC finished the regular season at 19-20 overall and 9-15 in ASC play to claim the No. 8 seed. UTT finished won the ASC regular season giving them the No.1 seed and home-field advantage through the playoffs. They had a 33-6 (21-3) regular season, and have won three of the last four tournament championships, including back-to-back wins the last two seasons.

Tyler lost its regular season finale to East Texas Baptist University by a score of 7-5 in Marshall, but won seven games in a row before that, dating back to the walk-off loss to the Wildcats at the beginning of April. LC won the opener of the series with UTT in the bottom of the ninth, but lost the doubleheader on Saturday by scores of 5-1 and 13-6.

In the lone win over the Patriots, the Wildcats scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth, after entering the frame down 3-1. A bases loaded double by Sully Martin scored two runs to tie the game, and the Wildcats won the game when pinch runner Trey McNeal slid home on a passed ball that went through the catcher's legs.
