Box Score

The Louisiana College Lady Wildcats were unable to overcome a lackluster beginning to the game going 0-for-13 from the field through the first five minutes allowing the University of Texas at Dallas Comets to gain a 14-1 lead. The Comets would hold the lead through the rest of the afternoon giving the Wildcats their third straight loss and second conference loss of the week.

After falling behind 14-1 in the first five and a half minutes of the game, the Wildcats would work their way back into striking distance thanks to an 8-0 run to get within two possessions at 14-9 with 2:06 left in the first. A layup by the Comets with 95 second left gave them a 16-9 edge at the end of the opening quarter.

The closest the Lady Wildcats would get to tying the game the rest of the way came when RyDeja McQuarn landed a 3-pointer at the 8:07 mark of the second quarter to pull LC within six at 19-13. The Comets quickly turned that six-point lead into a 12-point lead converting on their next two shots on the other end with a pair of free throws.

The Wildcats struggled through the first half game shooting, regardless of where the shots came from going 6-for-32 from the field in the first half and 8-of-16 from the free throw line. The team improved to a 50% field goal percent in the second half but the deficit was too great to overcome from the first half as they would fall to UT Dallas 79-65.

Despite the loss to the two conference losses this week, the Lady Wildcat are still sitting fourth spot in the ASC East, putting them in the conference tournament if the season ended today. With four weeks left in the regular season, LC controls its own destiny in terms of a trip back to the ASC conference tournament.

Once again Brooke Jones led the scoring for the Wildcats with 13 points, just missing a double-double for the second game in a row with 9 rebounds. Karlee Teddlie was the only other Lady Wildcats to reach double figures with 11 points, and Kristen Breaux just missed a double-double of her own with 9 points and 8 rebounds.

The Wildcats continue their four-game road stretch next week with a trip to UT Tyler on Thursday and ending in Longview on Saturday with a matchup against LeTourneau.  LC will return to H.O. West Fieldhouse on February 2 for the first of a five-game home stand.
