Lady Wildcats Look to Make Moves in East

The Louisiana College Lady Wildcats have an opportunity this weekend to improve their positioning in the ASC East as they begin a stretch of four straight pivotal road games in conference play. The Wildcats take on Ozarks on Thursday before heading to Richardson, TX for a matchup with East leader UT Dallas. Tip off for Thursday's game is scheduled for 5:30pm and 1pm on Saturday afternoon against the Comets.

Ozarks | 7-9 (3-6)  5th ASC East

5142The Eagles come into Thursday's game having lost five of their last six games, all in conference play, and the last two in a row with their win coming on January 7 against McMurry 90-71. Ozarks has two players averaging more than 10 points per game on the season, Bryanna Moltz at 14.4 and Hailey Ostrander at 12.9 points per game. Delanei Stephens and Diamond Goodwyn lead the team in rebounding at 7.7 and 7.6 rebounds per game. As a team the Eagles rank ninth in the conference in scoring at 65.9 points per game and sixth in scoring defense allowing 68.1 points per game to their opponents.  They rank third in field goal percentage in the ASC with 40.4% shooting from the floor, fifth in free throws at 70.7% and sixth in 3-point percentage at 29.8%.

UT Dallas | 13-3 (8-1)  1st ASC East

2515After an impressive run to the top of the ASC East standings over the last few week the Comets lost their first conference game of the season earlier this week to Mary Hardin-Baylor 63-49 thanks to their second worst shooting performance of the season. Despite ranking seventh in the ASC in scoring offense as 67.2 points per game the Comets defense is what has allowed them to win 13 games this season. Dallas is statistically the best defensive team in the conference holding opponents to 53.2 points per game and a conference best 34.5% opponent shooting percentage.  Three players are scoring more than 10 points per game for the conferences seventh best offense, Micaela Gonzalez leads the way at 13.9 per game followed closely by Alyssa Crockett at 13.7 and then Kayla Reinhart with 10.4 points per game. Reinhart leads the team in rebounding with 6.4 boards per game.

Louisiana College | 5-8 (4-3)  4th ASC East

5201The Wildcats split their two non-conference games last week with an impressive performance against Concordia, avenging an earlier season loss to the Tornado, but a sloppy end to the game against Belhaven. LC ranks fifth in the conference in scoring at 68.4 points per game and next to last in scoring defense, allowing 74.5 points to their opponents. The Wildcats are shooting 36.8% from the field on the season, 67.7% on free throw attempts, and 27.8% on 3-point shots. Brooke Jones continues to lead the team in both scoring and rebounds at 11.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Karlee Teddlie and Kristen Breaux are just outside of double figures in scoring at 9.6 and 8.6 points per game.

Tip-off for Thursday's game is set for 5:30 pm from Clarksville, AR agaisnt the Eagles.
