Baseball Loses DH to McMurry

The Louisiana College baseball team was defeated in both games of a double-header on Friday night at Billy Allgood Field by ASC foe McMurry.  The War Hawks took game one by a score of 8-5 and game two with a score of 4-2.  The series finale is set for Saturday afternoon at 12pm.

In game one of the series McMurry jumped out to a 4-0 in the first on 5 singles in the inning.  The Wildcats got 1 back in the bottom of the first when Kiefer Moore scored on an error by the right fielder.  The score remained 4-1 until the Wildcats put together a 3-run rally in the bottom of the 5th to tie the game at 4.  Logan Phillips provided a 2-run double down the left field line to plate Sully Martin and Kiefer Moore.  Phillips' double was followed immediately by an RBI single by Deauton Delgado up the middle.
McMurry answered back with a 4-run sixth inning to secure the eventual win.

Moore and Phillips had 4 of the Wildcats 5 team hits in the game each going 2-3 and Phillips had a total of 3 RBI in the game.

In the nightcap McMurry once again score in the top of the first and led 2-0 going into the bottom of the fourth when the Wildcats would cut the lead in half on a single by Zane Corbell through the left side.  The War Hawks answered the Wildcats run with 2 of their own in the next inning but LC would come right back to add another in the fifth on a Kiefer Moore single.  The Wildcats had an opportunity to tie the game in the seventh with runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1-out but were unable to get the timely hit they needed.

The teams combined for 21 hits in the game and 17 runners left on base.  Cody McNeal and Zane Corbell led the way for the Wildcat with 2 hits each.

The Wildcats will next host Texas College in a midweek double-header on Tuesday in Pineville.
