Baseball Snaps ETBU's Win Streak in Game Two

4/29/2016 10:47:00 PM

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The Louisiana College Wildcats split the two games of a double-header on Friday night against ETBU, at Billy Allgood Field.  The win in game two snapped a 14 game conference winning streak by the Tigers.

Trailing 1-0 after the first inning the Wildcats would get two runs across after a double by Tyler Lamers set up Tim Griffith's RBI single to right and a wild pitch that allowed Lamers to score two batters later.  The lead would be short lived however as ETBU went back on top in the third on a 3-run homerun to left center field. The Tigers extended the lead by two more in the fourth before the Wildcats got their final run of the game on another Tim Griffith RBI single.

Call Florence came in and shut the Tiger down for the final three innings but LC was not able to get any more runs to score as Logan Phillips struck out with the bases loaded to end the game in the seventh.

Kiefer Moore, Tyler Lamers, and Tim Griffith all had two hits a piece in the game and Griffith drove in two of the three Wildcat runs.  Florence pitched three no-hit innings to finish the game for the Wildcats with three strikeouts.

In the nightcap the Wildcats used two different three run innings in route to a 6-1 win over the Tigers.  Once again ETBU got out to a 1-0 lead on the Wildcats but in the third inning a bases loaded double by Ashton Martin gave LC a 2-1 lead.  The next batter, Kiefer Moore, added another run on an RBI single to right.

The score remained 3-1 through the middle innings, until a 3-run home run in the bottom of the eighth by Deauton Delgado gave the Wildcats more insurance runs and the win.  Delgado and Logan Krajcer had two hits in the game and Trey Ducote picked up his second win of the year going 6.1 innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits.

The teams will wrap up the regular season tomorrow with a noon game time.  LC will hold their senior recognition prior to the game, at approximately 11:30am.
