Box Score 2 The LC Baseball team lost both games of a double-header against Hardin-Simmons on Friday, 15-0 and 7-6. The series finale will begin at 1pm on Saturday afternoon in Abeline.
The Wildcats had a tough time all the way around in the first game of the day on Friday. Offensively the team only produced 3 hits in the game, defensively they committed 4 errors, and Hardin-Simmons batted around in the 5th inning scoring 11 runs in the inning.
Austin Thompson started the game and was knocked out in that Hardin-Simmons 5th after back-to-back homeruns by the Cowboys. Sully Martin, Cody McNeal, and Tyler Lamers were the Wildcats with the hits in game one.
The second game was much better for LC scoring 6 runs on 10 hits in the game but falling short when the Cowboys got a walk-off single in the bottom of the 9th after the Wildcats were able to tie the game in top of the inning.The Wildcats rallied twice in the game to claw their way back into the game, once in the 6th and then again in the 9th. They scored 3 runs in the 6th with the help of Cowboy pitchers the walked 2 batters and threw 3 wild pitches to allow runners to advance or score.
Zane Corbell provided the big hit of the inning with a 2-run double down the right field line. In the 9th inning rally to tie the game a walk and a single led to a
Cody McNeal RBI single to right to cut the lead to 1 for the Cowboys.
Deauton Delgado would then reach on a fielder's choice that allowed the runner to score from third to tie the game at 6.
Kiefer Moore went 3-5 in the game for the Wildcats and
Cody McNeal and
Zane Corbell each had 2 hits in the game.
Call Florence took the loss on the walk off hit in the 9th by Hardin-Simmons.
