Baseball Rides 10-run Third to Win

4/1/2016 11:42:00 PM

Box Score

The Wildcats baseball team (5-16, (3-7)) picked up their first win since February 27 after plating 10 runs in the top of the third on the road against LeTourneau.  LC and LeTourneau will finish their three game series Saturday with a doubleheader (Gm 1 - 1pm, Gm 2 - 3pm).

After falling behind 6-0 just two innings into the game, the Wildcats erupted for 10 runs in the thrid, sending 14 batters to the plate and racking up 9 hits.  The inning started with a single by Ashton Marting and a walk to Sully Martin.  Keifer Moore and Logan Phillips each provided RBI singles for the first two runs before the first out was recorded.  The Wildcats would then send five batters to the plate in a row and each of them would come away with hits, highlighted by Logan Krajcer's 3-run double and Ashton Martin's triple.  Logan Phillips finished the scoring with his second hit and second and third RBI's of the inning with a single up the middle.

LeTourneau pulled within 2 runs after the fourth inning but that was as close as they would get and neither team would score the remainder of the game.  Tyler Lamers picked up his second win of the season but Tripp Davis pitched 3.2 innings of shutout baseball to seal the LC victory.  Five different Wildcats had 2 hits in the game and Phillips and Krajcer both drove in 3-runs a piece.

The double header will begin at 1pm tomorrow at Conrad-Vernon Field in Longview, TX.  Fans can follow the action from LeTourneau by clicking the following links:
