Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3

For the first time this season the Louisiana College Lady Wildcats softball team has lost a three game series.  They traveld to Jackson, MS to take on Belhaven University and came back with 3 losses from the weekend.  The Lady Wildcats now have a record of 14-7 overall and 12-6 in ASC play.

Game 1 of the series saw LC only able to get 2-hits against Belhaven pitcher Julienne Broussard, a single by Kourtney Herrera and a single by Mattie Stine.  Belhaven used two early long balls to jump out to a 4-0 lead after 2 innings on two 2-run homeruns in the first and second innings respectively.  That was all that the Lady Blazers would manage the rest of the game but the Lady Wildcats offense wasn't able to piece together much offense to respond.  Stine and Herrera both went 1-2 in the game for LC.

In game 2 the Lady Wildcats were held in check for the most part of the game and trailed 3-0 going into the top of the seventh inning.  After a Shelby Bergeron 2-out single up the middle, Sophomore Mattie Stine pulled the Lady Wildcats within one at 3-2 on a 2-run home run over the right center field wall.  Unfortunatley LC was unable to get another runner aboard for a chance to tie the game. Morgan Wampler and Stine went 2-4 in the game for the Lady Wildcats.

In the finale of the three game series the Lady Wildcats stuggled to get key hits with runners on base.  LC left 13 runners on base in the game which led to the Lady Wildcats being shutout for second time in the series and the second time all year.  It was a 1-0 game through 5 and a half innings of play before Belhaven was finally able to get to starter Savannah Settle, who was pitching in her fouth game this week, and score 4 runs in the inning, all with 2-outs.  Kelsey Kelly and Jordan Mason each had 2 hits for LC in the finale.

Settle went 0-2 over the weekend in 11.2 innings of work giving up 9 earned runs.  Mattie Stine was the hot bat for the Lady Wildcats, going 4-9 from the plate with a home run and 2 RBI.  She put the ball in play in 9 of her 11 plate appearances over the three game series.

The Lady Wildcats (14-7, 12-6) return home this week for a three game series with LeTourneau (10-13, 6-10) with games scheduled for Tuesday at 6pm and a doubleheader on Wednesday with Game 1 at 4pm and Game 2 at 6pm.
