Women Try to Stay Unbeaten in Conference

After a trip to the snowy Pacific Northwest that saw the Louisiana College Lady Wildcats lose to a top 25 ranked team, and fall in overtime in their second game, LC returns to conference action this week with a matchups against Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday and Concordia on Monday.  Tip off for both games on both days is scheduled for 1:00 pm.

The Cru women enter the game with an 0-1 conference record but a 6-3 overall record, their only conference game being a loss to Ozarks on the road, 77-66 on November 29th.  Kendra Wynn in the only Cru woman with a double digit scoring average this year at 11.2 points per game.  They have two players close behind with a 9.8 and 9.6 point average.  Wynn also leads the team in rebounds just a couple below a double-double average at 8.2 boards per game.  As a team the Cru are outscoring their opponents by an 11 point margin putting in 71.1 points per game with a 37.0% field goal percentage.

Concordia also enters the weekend with a winless conference record, falling to Ozarks and UT Dallas in back-to-back games last week, the only two losses for the team this season.  Three players are averaging more than 10 points per game with Emily Cullers leading the way for the Tornado at a 15.1 point per game clip with a 48.0% field goal percentage.  Raven Cato leads the team in rebounding at 5.8 per game and Jaela Dejean leads the team with 2.6 assists per game.  As a team the Tornado average 66.1 points per game and have a 41.1% shooting percentage from the floor. They rank second in the conference in scoring defense, allowing onlt 57.0 points per game.

After the trip to Walla Walla last week the Lady Wildcats will try and get back on track and improve their 2-0 conference record with tough matchups against Mary Hardin-Baylor and Concordia. The Wildcats have only one player, junior Brooke Jones, averaging double figures in points at 10.2 per game, Kristen Breaux is close behind at 9.2 points per game.  Jones also leads the team in rebounding at 6.8 per game. The Lady Wildcats lost for the first time this season when scoring 60 or more points in their overtime loss to Whitworth last Saturday.  For the season LC is averaging 63.7 points per game and allowing 74.2 to their opponents.


The LC women take on Mary Hardin-Baylor Saturday at 1:00 pm and Concordia Monday at 1:00 pm before playing exhibition games agaisnt Northwestern State in Natchitoches on December 20th and at Lamar University on December 22nd to close out the 2016 portion of their season. They will return to action in their home opener January 3rd against Howard Payne.
