Box Score

In a game that saw six different Wildcats go for double figures against Rhodes College on Sunday, Louisiana College were plagued by turnovers and missed free throws down the stretch in a 107-97 loss to the Lynx.  LC will travel to Abeline on Thursday for their first conference game of the season on Thursday against McMurry before taking on Hardin-Simmons next Saturday.

The Wildcats started off strong in the game on Sunday afternoon going back and forth with the Lynx through the first half and held a 51-43 lead at the break.  Senior Steve Evans scored the first bucket of the game just a few seconds into the game and the Wildcats jumped out to a 6-0 lead over the Lynx, but the home team would make a quick comeback behind solid three point shooting. Rhodes first 18 points would all come from behind the arc and the Lynx would take an 18-16 lead at the 12:03 mark of the first half.

As well as the Lynx were shooting from three and the field the Wildcats were matching them almost shot for shot, and enjoyed as big as a nine point lead through the first 20 minutes.  With the game tied at 36 with four and a half minutes left LC went on a 15-7 run to end the half and take the 51-43 lead into the break.  The Wildcats shot 63% as a team from the field in the first half including 4 out of 5 from three point range.

In the second half, the Wildcats continued to trade buckets with Rhodes through the first nine minutes of the second half but the Lynx would continue to shoot well from behind the arc and tie the game at 73 with 11 minutes left in the game. That would be the last time that LC would have the lead in the game as Rhodes would continue to heat up from the field and the Wildcats would cool off.  Rhodes shot 56% in the half which was accentuated by the Wildcats poor shooting from the free throw line, only converting 11 of 19 free throws, and the 26 total turnovers in the game.

The Wildcats had six players score in double figures in the game with Raheem Regis leading all scorers with 18 points in the game and a perfect 9 for 9 shot attempts. Torrian Lee went for 17, Steve Evans got his first double-double of the season with 10 rebounds, John Parker scored more than 10 for the second straight game, and Brandon Watkins and Nick Burks went for double digits for the first time.
The Wildcats will take on McMurry next Thursday for their first ASC game of the season before taking on Hardin-Simmons on Saturday.
