The Louisiana College men's and women's soccer teams were both defeated by ETBU on Thursday night in Pineville. The women suffered their second straight 6-0 loss and the men, in their first match since September 24, suffered a 4-0 defeat. Both team will return to action on Friday night as they host LeTourneau in another set of ASC conference matches.
In the women's game to start the night, the Wildcats played one of their best halves of soccer of the season. Although the Wildcats were outshot by ETBU 14-1 in the half, only one of the Tiger's chances were major threats and LC was able to play sound defense throughout the half. ETBU was able to break through in the 42nd minute of the first half and give the visiting team the slim lead going into halftime.
With the lack of depth on the bench in the game due to injuries, fatigue became a factor for the Wildcats in the second half as ETBU scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the second period. The Tigers totaled six goals in the game with two of the second half goals coming off rebounded shots in front of the net. The Wildcats were outshot in the game 33-2 and
McKenna Raines made 12 saves total in the game.
In a physical men's game the Wildcats were able to create a handful of chances for themselves but were unable to come away with any results. Nathan Gautreaux was able to make several impressive save and totaled 15 saves in the game but ETBU was able to find the back of the net four times total in the game.
The Tigers got on the board early in the 10th minute when a rebound fell to David Jackson after a Gautreaux save, and he was able to slip the ball past the LC keeper into the net for a 1-0 lead. ETBU added another goal in the 18th minute on a well executed corner kick that led to a header for their second goal and a 2-0 halftime lead.
ETBU added two goals in the second half including a game capper with just 10 seconds left in the contest. LC was outshot by ETBU 31-2 and Marc Charls, Phay San, and Wendy Edouard all were booked with yellow cards for the WIldcats and Max Ponticorvo was booked for the Tigers.
LC will host LeTourneau in an ASC double header on Friday with the women's match beginning at 5pm and the men at 7:30 pm. The Louisiana College SAAC will also be offering athlete groups the chance to win pizza as they show their support for the Wildcat soccer teams.
