Louisiana College Baseball, led by Head Coach Mike Byrnes, will be opening up their season on the road with a doubleheader on Friday, February 5th, in Shreveport vs. Centenary College. The first game will begin at 4:00 p.m. with the second one starting approximately at 6:00 p.m.
The home opener will be doubleheader the following day on Saturday, February 6th, also against Centenary College. The first game will begin at 1 p.m. with the second following thirty minutes afterwards.
There are quite a few exciting things happening on this Wildcat Home Opening Day. The traditional first pitch will be thrown out by Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser. Also, before game two starts, the Wildcat baseball team will present checks of $2,500 each to officials of the Cabrini and Rapides General Hospitals for donation to their Cancer Centers. These funds were raised by the LC baseball team with the Cats Crush Cancer Campaign through the Home-Run Club.
Also, one major change that fans will immediately notice is that this will be the first game played on the new turf infield. This project was accomplished through a private donor and various fund raising activities.
The Wildcats will undergo a busy opening week of the season, playing six games in four days. Coach Byrnes said to expect several different lineups throughout these games.
