Despite taking game one of their weekend series against rival East Texas Baptist on Saturday to secure a series win over the Tigers, the Louisiana College Wildcats fell one win short of locking up a spot in the 2015 ASC Baseball Championship Tournament, as their season came to an end following a 12-1 loss in the series finale at Woods Field in Marshall, Texas.

The Wildcats took game one of the day 6-5 after senior left-hander Ron Anders worked his way out of a potential game-winning rally by the Tigers in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure the win and clinch the series.

Senior Mark Riendeau started the scoring with a double in the left center gap in the top of the first inning to drive in Sully Martin, who led off the game with a single.

Martin then showed some unexpected power of his own in the top of the third inning, as he drove hios first career home run over the left field fence to put LC ahead 2-0.

The Wildcats would then take a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning and register two quick outs to begin the final frame. But the game would change very quickly, as the Tigers would then rattle off four consecutive hits to cut the lead to 6-5 and load the bases with two outs.

But Anders would get Jaxson Rader to fly out to Martin, who finished 3-for-4 with two RBI, two runs scored, and a home run, in centerfield for the final out of the game and put the Wildcats in a position to lock up one of the final two spots in the conference tournament with a win in the finale.

But those hopes would quickly be dashed in the final game of the series, as the Tigers scored seven times in the first three innings to essentially put the game away and carry them to a 12-1 win. And with the Wildcats needing a loss from Howard Payne in their series finale against Sul Ross to sneak into the final slot in next week's tournament, the Wildcats' fortune ran out when word came that Howard Payne took game three by a final of 10-3.

The Wildcats finish their season at 14-24 overall and miss out on the ASC Tournament for the first time since the 2009 season when they finished with a final record of 18-22.
