Marshall, Texas - The Louisiana College baseball team remained in the hunt for the 2015 American Southwest Conference Tournament on Friday night, as they took down the East Texas Baptist Tigers 2-1 in game one of their series in Marshall, Texas at Woods Field.

The Wildcats got a gutsy pitching performance from right-hander Tyler Lamers, as the freshman went 7.2 innings, scattered six hits, walked one, and struck out two while giving up just one run to earn his fourth win of the year.

Senior left-hander Ron Anders threw the final four outs of the game without allowing a runner to reach base to pick up his fourth save of the season.

ETBU would jump on the board first, as they got a clutch two out RBI single by center fielder Tyler Bates to put the Tigers ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the second.

The Wildcats would tie the score in the top of the fourth inning on a missile off the bat off senior right fielder Jermaine Liggins that went over the left field wall for a solo home run to even the score 1-1.

LC would finally grab their first lead of the game in the top of the sixth inning when senior third baseman Will Currier roped a one out RBI single to left field to drive in Garrett Parsons and put the Cats ahead 2-1.

Lamers and Anders would take of the rest, as they allowed just one hit over the final four innings to secure the win and keep the Wildcats in the hunt for the final spot in next week's ASC Tournament.

LC moves to 13-23 overall with a 9-19 mark in ASC play with the win. ETBU falls
to 18-19 overall, 9-16 in ASC play.

With Howard Payne taking game one of their series against Sul Ross State on Friday to move to 8-19 in the ASC and Hardin-Simmons beating UT-Dallas in game of their series to 9-15 in conference play, the Wildcats find themselves in a virtual gridlock in the hunt for one of the final spots in the ASC Tournament along with ETBU, HPU, and HSU.

All four teams play doubleheaders on Saturday, with a sweep for the Wildcats or a pair of losses for Howard Payne guaranteeing LC a spot in the next week's tournament.
