Â
The Wildcats were in complete control all day, as they never trailed in either game on their way to the doubleheader sweep.
Â
LC grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second inning of game one when
Dylan Keller ripped a two-out double off the left field wall to score Will Currier and give the Cats their first lead of the day.
Â
After the Eagles plated the game-tying run in the top of the fourth inning, the Wildcats answered immediately with two runs in their half of the fourth, again with two outs, as sophomore designated hitter
Dylan Roy drove in Keller and
Cary Myers on a two RBI single to put LC back in control at 3-1.
Â
The Ozarks climbed back in the game with another run on three hits in the fifth inning, but that was all they would get off LC starter
Bo Ockman, as the sophomore right-hander did nt give up a hit in his last two innings of work to complete his first career shutout and pick up his second win of the year.
Â
Freshman center fielder
Sully Martin drove in LC's final run of the day on a single to right field in the bottom of the sixth inning to drive in Myers to go up 4-2.
Â
Game two was dominated by the Wildcat bats, as they scored six runs in the fourth inning and another seven runs in the seventh inning to run away with a 16-2 win in the nightcap.
Â
Going into the bottom of the fourth inning up 1-0, the Wildcats would look to add some insurance runs for freshman starting pitcher
Tyler Lamers.
Â
They would do that plus some, as the Cats sent 12 batters to the plate and scored six runs on four hits, with the big blow coming on an RBI single to left field by senior catcher
Garrett Parsons that scored Keller and Martin.
Â
LC would add single run frames in the fifth and sixth innings on RBI singles from
Mark Riendeau and Myers to extend their lead to 9-2.
Â
But the Wildcat bats were not done, as they brought seven runners across the plate in the seventh inning to put the game away, with Parsons hitting another two RBI single and Currier adding a two run double down the left field line to highlight an inning that put LC out front 16-2.
Â
Lamers picked up the win, his third of the season, by going seven strong innings, as he gave up seven hits, no earned runs, and struck out a career-high eight batters before handing the ball to junior lefty
Tyler Dixon, who worked two scoreless frames in the eighth and ninth.
Â
Currier led LC at the plate in game two, finishing 3-for-4 with three RBI and four runs scored while Parsons was 2-for-4 with four RBI.
Â
The Wildcats now sit at 8-16 overall with a 6-14 record in ASC play. The two teams will square off on Friday in the series finale starting at noon at Billy Allgood Field.
