Box Score Box ScoreThe Louisiana College baseball team, looking to improve their postseason chances, dropped a tough 4-3 decision to American Southwest Conference opponent Texas-Dallas on Friday afternoon in Richardson, Texas.
Â
After falling behind 1-0 in the bottom of the second, the Wildcats would find the big inning they were looking for in the top of the fifth inning, as they brought in three runs on three hits to take a 3-1 lead.
Â
Senior third baseman Will Currier started the scoring with a leadoff solo home run to right centerfield off UT-Dallas starter Tyler Dauer to tie the game at 1-1.
Â
Freshman centerfielder
Sully Martin then drove in
Cary Myers on a go-ahead RBI single and was driven in a batter later when first baseman
Mark Riendeau drove him in on an RBI single to right center to go ahead 3-1.
Â
But that lead was short-lived, as the Comets would bounce back to score three runs in their half of the fifth inning to take a 4-3 lead, highlighted by a game-tying, two out home run just over the left field fence by Pierce Fly.
Â
That would be all that Dauer would need the rest of the way, as he shutout the Wildcats over the final four innings to pick up the complete game victory.
Â
The Wildcats move to 11-19 on the season and 7-15 in ASC play. The two teams will square up on Saturday in a doubleheader to decide the series. Those game have been moved up due to the threat of rain in the area and will now begin at 10:00 a.m.
