The Wildcats dropped game one by a final of 5-2 before giving up a late lead in game two to fall to the Patriots 7-4 in the series finale.
After falling behind early 1-0 in game one, the Wildcats answered back with two runs in the top of the third inning on an RBI triple from freshman left fielder
Dylan Keller that scored freshman center fielder
Sully Martin. Keller was then brought in on an RBI single from senior third baseman
Mark Riendeau to put LC ahead 2-1.
But the Patriot bats would respond in the bottom of the fifth with a home run from left fielder Blake Bonnin and a 2 RBI single from catcher Buddy McCoy to put UT-Tyler back ahead 4-2.
UT-Tyler would add another run in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single from Logan Tucker to stretch the lead out to 5-2, which was the eventual final.
Sophomore designated hitter
Dylan Roy led LC at the plate in game one by going 2-for-3 with a double.
Working behind a tremendous effort from senior left-hander
Ron Anders through the first six innings, the Wildcats were able to jump out ahead to an early lead in game two.
LC would score the first runs of the game when Martin and Keller lead off the top of the fourth inning with back-to-back walks and were eventually driven in when Roy drilled a 2 RBI single down the left field line to put the Cats ahead 2-0.
The Cats would stretch that lead out to 3-0 in the top of the sixth on an RBI sac fly by
Mark Riendeau that scored senior second baseman
Cary Myers, who led off the inning with a single.
The Patriots would not give in, however, as they scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the sixth when designated hitter Kevan House dumped a one out bloop double into shallow right field and was driven in one batter later on an RBI single by first baseman Garrett Nelson.
UT-Tyler would then get back-to-back big innings in the seventh and eighth innings, as the Patriots scored three runs a piece in both frames to take a 7-4 lead and crush the Wildcats' hopes of salvaging the final game of the series.
Roy once again led LC at the plate in game two, going 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.
The Wildcats fall to 6-10 overall and 4-8 in ASC play. They will take on the Sul Ross Lobos this weekend starting with a single nine inning game on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. at Billy Allgood Field in Pineville.
