Box Score Box ScoreUpdated Season StatsThe Louisiana College softball team completed a three-game sweep of the Concordia Tornados on Saturday with a 9-1 run-rule win in five innings at Coca-Cola Field in Pineville.
Â
An eight run third inning by the Lady Wildcats busted the game wide open and helped LC remain undefeated in conference play on the young season.
Â
After a Courney Ivey RBI groundout in the bottom of the first inning gave LC a 1-0 lead, Concordia would tie the game in the top of the third.
Â
But that was as close as the Tornados would get, as the eight run frame came due to eight straight Lady Wildcats reaching base with two outs.
Â
Laura Gulotta-Parrish started the scoring with an RBI squeeze bunt and was followed by an RBI single from Ivey and a two-run triple by
Regan LeJeune.
Â
After a pitching change by Concordia,
Jayde Westbrook and
Heather Scully followed with back-to-back RBI singles. Gulotta-Parrish would close out the huge inning with an RBI hit-by-pitch that put the Lady Cats up 9-1 and effectively put the game out of reach.
Â
Ivey led LC at the plate by going 2-for-3 with 2 RBI while sophomore left-handed pitcher
Taylor Leger earned the win by tossing three innings and giving up just two hits and one earned run.
Â
The Lady Wildcats (7-1 overall, 6-0 in ASC play) remain at the top of the ASC standings with the sweep and will take on The University of the Ozarks in a conference series next week beginning on Friday at 1:00 p.m. in Clarksville, Arkansas.
