The Louisiana College baseball team dropped a tough 3-1 decision to the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs on the first day of the Clements Fluids Classic on Friday afternoon in Tyler, Texas.

The Wildcats took the loss despite a solid outing from freshman right-handed pitcher Tyler Lamers, who threw a complete game while giving up seven hits, striking out three, and giving up just one earned run.

LC got on the board first when senior first baseman Mark Riendeau led off the fourth inning with a single to left field and was driven in two batters later when senior catcher Garrett Parsons ripped a double into the left centerfield gap to put the Wildcats up 1-0.

LC would get just one more hit the rest of the day, however, as TLU starter Aaron Aleman was dominant, throwing a complete game with nine strikeouts and giving up just four hits.

]The Bulldogs would take the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Holden Bryant reached on a throwing error by LC shortstop James Santiago with two outs that allowed Matt King to score to tie the game at 1-1.

Tyler Gennusa tripled a few pitches later to bring home Bryant and give the Bulldogs the lead for good at 2-1.

TLU would add a final insurance run on a home run to left field by designated hitter Klaus Bohrmann off of Lamers to give the Bulldogs the eventual 3-1 final score.

The Wildcats (1-2) will play one more game on the weekend, which is scheduled for Saturday at 1:00 p.m. against traditional Division III power Trinity University. LC sophomore right-hander Bo Ockman is expected to get the start on the mound for the Cats.
