The Louisiana College Wildcats, playing one of the toughest pre-conference schedules they faced in the Division III era, fell to the hot-shooting LSU-Alexandria Generals 100-84 on Monday night at the "The Fort" on LSU-A's campus.

The Generals, who came into Monday night's matchup ranked no. 5 in the nation in the NAIA top 25 poll, got off to a blistering start shooting the basketball and never let up on their way to a two-game sweep in this season's "Red River Rivalry" series.

LSUA shot an incredible 63.6% (21-for-33) from the field in the first half, including 57.1% (8-for-14) from behind the arc, in the first half while holding the Wildcats to just one offensive rebound in the first 20 minutes to take a 56-36 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Generals would continue their hot shooting in the second half, stretching their lead out to as much as 24 points on their way to the 100-84 win over the Wildcats.

The Wildcats did see many positives, however, as they turned the ball over just five times all night compared to 19 assists on 27 made field goals.

Senior Anthony Gaines, Jr. led the Wildcats with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 blocks, and 2 steals.

Raheem Regis (12 points, 5 rebounds) and Kevin Cottonham (10 points, 5 assists) also reached double figures for LC while reserve guard Julius Jackson played his best game of the season to date, pouring in 11 on 5-for-7 shooting from the field to go along with 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

The Wildcats' schedule will get no easier the rest of the week, as they will travel to Thibodaux on Tuesday to square off against Division I Nicholls State before opening ASC play at home on Thursday against Hardin-Simmons.
