Owensboro, KY - The Louisiana College Wildcats, playing up in competition against NCAA Division II opponent Kentucky Wesleyan College, fell to the Panthers by a final score of 49-22 on Saturday afternoon at Steele Stadium in Owensboro, Kentucky.

The Wildcats, playing without star quarterback Easton Melancon, who missed the game due to a shoulder injury suffered the previous week against Mary Hardin-Baylor, were outmatched by Kentucky Wesleyan's potent passing attack, as the Panthers threw for 423 yards through the air on the day.

The Panthers got on the board first at the 7:27 mark of the 1st quarter when Dalton Oliver hit Keelan Cole on an 18 yard touchdown pass to put KWC ahead 7-0.

The Wildcats would answer immediately, as they answered with a 10 play, 51 yard drive that culminated with a 39 yard field goal from Charles Firmin to make it 7-3 with just under three minutes left in the first quarter.

LC would get another field goal from Firmin and an 11 yard touchdown run from freshman running back Devin Sylve before the half, but the Panthers would take a 28-13 lead into the locker room on another touchdown grab from Cole, a touchdown run from Darius Chandler and a touchdown grab from Xavier Mitchell.

That would be as close as the Cats would get the rest of the afternoon, as KWC got a 20 yard and a 68 yard touchdown catch from Cole in the 3rd quarter to bust the game open.

LC would get their final points of the afternoon on a 14 yard touchdown run late in the 4th quarter from quarterback De'Ondre Joseph, who played admirably in place of the injured Melancon.

Joseph finished the game 21-40 passing for 202 yards to go along with 21 carries for 100 yards and a touchdown.

Keelan Cole, a bonafide NFL prospect at receiver, finished with 8 catches for a staggering 278 receiving yards and 5 receiving touchdowns.

The Wildcats (2-5 overall, 2-2 in ASC play) will be on the road once again next week for an ASC matchup against Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas.
