PINEVILLE, La. – Louisiana Christian University football safety
Kylon Polk earned national recognition, being named a member of the All-American First Team Defense by the Associated Press on Friday.
Polk, a freshman safety for Loreauville, La., adds the All-American honor from the AP to a host of conference honors. He was previously named the Sooner Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year while being named First Team All-Conference.
As the season came to its conclusion, Polk picked up his play. In the last two weeks of the season, he came up with eight interceptions, taking one back in each game for a score. All told, he came up with 11 interceptions on the year, the only player at a four-year institution, regardless of division, with at least 10 picks on the year. He also averaged 5.6 tackles per game. Polk becomes LCU's first All-American since
Pop McGhee was named a First Team All-American defender following the 2023 season, where LCU won its other SAC Championship.
Polk and the Wildcats finished the season 8-3 overall and 7-1 in SAC play, earning a share of the conference championship for the second time in three seasons.
