Alexandria, La. - In what proved to be their best shooting day in nearly a decade, the Louisiana College men's basketball team kept the points coming in bunches to take a 94-74 win over the Ozarks on Saturday afternoon in Alexandria at "The Fort" on LSU-A's campus.

The Wildcats shot a blistering 60.9% (39-64) from the field on the afternoon, which marks their highest field goal percentage in a single game since November of 2005 when they shot 61.8% (34-55) in an 86-79 win over Sul Ross in the H.O. West Fieldhouse.

LC also drained 10 of their 17 shots (58.%) from behind the three-point line, which was their best day from beyond the arc since November of 2009 against Hardin-Simmons.

The Wildcats went into the locker room at halftime with a 48-38 lead, due in large part to the efforts of junior point guard Kevin Cottonham.

The Jonesboro native had a nearly perfect first half, as he scored 21 points on 4-for-4 shooting from behind the three-point line to go along with four assists.

LC's stout perimeter defense was on display in the second half, with the highlight of the day coming with Anthony Gaines, Jr. blocked a three-point attempt from Ozarks guard Josh Berard, took a pass from forward Steve Evans, and threw down a thunderous windmill dunk that excited the crowd and Wildcat bench to the extent that the Eagles were forced to call a timeout.

Gaines, Jr. and fellow junior Kevin Lewis combined for 24 points in the second half, making 11 of their 13 shot attempts in the final 20 minutes.

Cottonham led the Wildcats with 24 points, seven assists, and three steals while Lewis added 20 points and five rebounds. Gaines, Jr. finished with 18 points, five rebounds, and three blocks while Evans had his second game with at least 10 rebounds, finishing with six points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks.

Ted Beard IV (22 points, five rebounds) and Kelby Robinson (20 points, six rebounds) paced the Eagles on the afternoon.

Now 7-6 on the season and 7-3 in ASC play, the Wildcats find themselves in fourth place in the conference standings, just two games behind ASC leader Hardin-Simmons.

Sitting right behind LC is the conference standings is rival East Texas Baptist (11-4 overall, 6-4 in ASC play). The two teams will face off in a huge Thursday night matchup next week in Marshall, Texas at 7:30 p.m. in the Ornelas Gymnasium on ETBU's campus.
