A rough first half of shooting would not deter the Louisiana College Lady Wildcats on Tuesday night against rival East Texas Baptist, as the veteran-laden squad came on strong in the second half pull away for a hard-fought 90-84 win at "The Fort" on LSU-A's campus.

Despite the shooting troubles LC faced in the first half, they still managed to go into the locker room holding on to a 40-36 lead.

But the Lady Cats just could not seem to put a feisty ETBU team away in the second half, as they stretched their lead out to nine points on three separate occasions in the first 10 minutes of the second half only to see the Lady Tigers fight to stay in the game.

With LC leading 61-52 at the 12:06 mark of the second half after a jumper from senior Kaci Willis, the Lady Cats saw ETBU go on a furious 17-7 run over the next five minutes when they took a 69-68 lead on a layup off of a fast break from point guard April Leonard.

The Lady Tigers would take their last lead of the night on a free throw at the 5:00 mark from Malasia Chisholm, but that was immediately answered by a huge three-pointer from LC senior Skylar Chenevert that gave the Lady Cats the lead once again at 75-73.

LC would close the game out from there, grabbing a big conference win in the process before facing off with ASC leader Texas-Tyler on Thursday.

Seniors Neka Jones (18 points, 8 rebounds), Danisha Allison (15 points, 14 rebounds), and Skylar Chenevert (16 points) led the second half comeback along with junior Anna Phillips, who hit several big shots off the bench to finsih with 12 points and 5 rebounds.

The win over ETBU marked the Lady Cats final "home game" away from the H.O. West Fieldhouse and pushed LC's overall record to 8-3 overall with a 5-3 mark in ASC play, which puts them in sole possession of third place in the conference standings.

The Lady Cats will square off with nationally ranked Texas-Tyler, who sits atop the ASC standings with a 9-1 mark in conference play, on Thursday in the newly refurbished gym on LC's campus. That game is scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
