The Louisiana College Wildcats saw their 2014 season come to an end with a 9-5 loss in Thursday's elimination game loss to the Sul Ross Lobos in the ASC Baseball Championship Tournament at Tornado Field in Austin, TX.

The two teams would go back-and-forth and find themselves in a 3-3 deadlock in the fifth inning, but a pair of three-run frames by Sul Ross in the fifth and seventh innings put the Lobos out of reach as they were able to pull of the tough win and avoid elimination.

LC jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Matt Scott's RBI single found a hole up the middle to score right fielder Bradley Robinson.

The Lobos would answer immediately in the bottom of the second inning when they took a 2-1 lead off Wildcat ace Madison Lachney before a lightening delay postponed play for 30 minutes in the top of the third inning.

LC would tie the game in the third when Kade Van Norman reached on a hit by pitch, advanced to second on a balk, advanced to third on a groundout by Mark Riendeau, and eventually scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at two.

Both teams would again trade single run frames in the bottom of the bottom of the third and the top of the fifth to tie the game 3-3, but that was as close as the Wildcats would get the rest of the way.

Lachney took the loss for LC in his final career start to fall to 6-7 on the season. Despite the loss, the senior hurler capped his career as one of the most successful pitchers in school history, as he finished his career ranking in the top five in career innings pitched (225.1), career complete games (14), and career ERA (3.99).

The Wildcats finish their season at 16-25 overall, as they made their fifth consecutive appearance in the ASC Tournament.
