The Cowgirls jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Hardin-Simmons designated player Braleigh Middleton hit a two out RBI single to centerfield off of LC starting pitcher
Taylor Leger.

Â
After

Courtney Ivey groundball at third and overthrew Leleaux at first base, which brought Pearson around to score and tie the game at 1-1.
Â
The Cowgirls would reclaim the lead in the top of the fifth, however after Leger loaded the bases with no outs before being relieved by sophomore pitcher
Nancy Bunting.
Â
Despite a tremendous effort by Bunting, HSU was able to take a 2-1 lead when Willis reached on a fielder's choice that scored right fielder Katelyn Joyner when Pearson fielded Willis' groundball at shortstop but was unable to gun down Joyner at the plate.
Â
The Lady Cats had an opportunity to tie the game back up in the bottom of the sixth inning when Pearson led the inning off with a double off the right center field wall but was eventually stranded at second base as LC dropped the first game by a final score of 2-1.
Â
Leger took her first loss in an LC uniform in game one despite giving up just two hits and one earned run over four innings of work.
Â
Stephanie Jaeger would waste no time giving LC an early 1-0 lead in game two, as she hit her fifth home run of the season, a solo shot over the left field wall off of HSU starting pitcher Keeley Lowrance.
Â
HSU centerfielder Sarah Truelove would tie the game back up with a sacrifice fly to centerfield in the top of the second to tie the game before LC first baseman
Sandra Ouchley would give the Lady Cats the lead right back in the bottom of the third with an RBI single.
Â
But that lead would not last long, as a Leleaux solo home run in the top of the fourth inning started rally for the Cowgirls where they scored four runs over the final four innings to take the game 5-3.
Â
The pair of losses were the first for the Lady Wildcats all season in ASC play, as they dropped to 15-3 overall and 15-2 in conference play. The two teams will square off in the series finale on Saturday at noon.Â
