The Louisiana College baseball team fell 10-7 in an offensive shootout on Friday night to the Sul Ross Lobos in Alpine, TX.

The Lobos showed why they are considered the top offensive club in the ASC, as they jumped on LC starter Tyler Dixon early, scoring two runs on three hits in the bottom of the first inning, which included a Shane Sawyer RBI sacrifice fly and an Emmett Crisp RBI single to centerfield.

The Wildcats would answer immediately in the top of the second, as LC banged out five hits and plated four runs in their half of the inning to take a 4-2 lead with the big blow coming on a Cary Myers two RBI single to center field that scored Garrett Parsons and Jermaine Liggins.

But that lead would not last long, as the Lobos answered right back with a four run frame in the bottom of the second inning off of relief pitcher Jacob Trahan to take a 6-4 lead into the third inning.

LC third baseman Will Currier's long home run to left field in the top of the third inning would put the Wildcats back within a run, but Sul Ross first baseman Eli Gallego's long home run off the light tower in left centerfield in bottom of the fourth inning would give the Lobos all the run support they would need the rest of the way, as Sul Ross pulled away to win 10-7 in the series opener.

Currier and Parsons both hit their first home runs as Wildcats in the game, as the duo combined for four RBI and three runs scored while junior outfielder Kade Van Norman led LC with a 3-for-5 night at the plate out of the leadoff spot in the order.

Trahan took the loss for LC, his first of the season, as the Wildcats dropped to 5-12 overall and 4-9 in ASC play. The two teams will square off on Saturday in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
