The sizzling hot bats of Louisiana College's softball team showed no signs of cooling down on Saturday afternoon, as the Lady Wildcats pounded out 20 hits in their doubleheader sweep of the Ozarks, winning game one 10-1 and game two 11-0, both via the eight run rule after five innings.
Game One Box Score
The Lady Cats jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on back-to-back RBI doubles by catcher
Courtney Ivey and first baseman
Sandra Ouchley. They would add another in the second inning on yet another RBI double, this one coming off the bat of
Jessica Johnson.
After the Ozarks plated a run in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI single by Annie McDonald, LC responded back with a five run frame in the bottom half of the fourth, highlighted by two-run singles from second baseman
Stephanie Jaeger and Ouchley to bring the score to 8-1.
Jaeger then put the game away in the bottom of the fifth inning with a walk-off two-run single to left field that scored
Chelsea Allen and
Jessica Johnson.
Abby Maillet picked up the win in game one to move to 3-0 by going all five innings, giving up just four hits, and one earned run.
Game Two Box Score
LC again got on the board early and often in game two, as they scored three runs in both the first and second innings and brought four runners across the plate in the third inning.
Emorie Nugent would score the Lady Cats first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning on a
Courtney Ivey RBI sacrifice fly.
Laura Gulotta-Parrish then drove in Ouchley and Jaeger on a single to center to put LC up 3-0 after one inning.
Jaeger would then hit her second home run of the season to centerfield in the bottom of the second inning, a three-run shot that brought home Nugent and Allen.
Jaeger would then strike again in the bottom of the third inning, as she cleared the bases on a three-run triple to right field to score Nugent, Allen, and freshman
Kimber Gruehl. LC would add their final run in the bottom of the fourth inning on an
Chelsea Allen RBI single.
Sophomore right handed pitcher
Nancy Bunting was dominant in the circle in game two, as she was near perfect, going all five innings, giving up just one hit with no walks.
Jaeger finished the day 4-for-5 with 10 RBI, three runs scored, and a stolen base.
The Lady Wildcats now stand at 9-1 overall and on top of the ASC standings with a perfect 9-0 record in conference play. They will travel Jackson, MS on Tuesday to take on Millsaps in a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
