PINEVILLE, LA - After suffering through a seven game losing streak coming into their final home stand of the season, the Louisiana College men's basketball team did on Saturday afternoon what they have successfully done all season long: Defend their home court with authority.

The Wildcats used a tremendous shooting performance and a wide open, fast-paced style to take down the University of the Ozarks 95-86 in their final home game of the 2013-2014 season.

LC shot 50.7% (36-71) from the field, their third highest mark of the season, and registered a season-high 23 assists as a team on 36 made field goals.

Sophomore guard Kevin Lewis continued his recent hot shooting over the past month with a 25 point, eight rebound afternoon to lead the Wildcats. Freshman center Raheem Regis registered his second double-double of the season with a 16 point, 10 rebound performance. The 6-6 Grambling high school product was a perfect 8-for-8 from the field against the Eagles.

Senior guard Doc Welch, who received a standing ovation from the Wildcat faithful when he was subbed out with under a minute left to play in regulation, added 13 points while Kevin Cottonham (10 points, nine assists) and AJ Gaines, Jr. (16 points, eight rebounds) also reached double figures in scoring for the Wildcats.

With an overall record of 11-12 and an 11-10 ASC record, the Wildcats have secured their first season with 11 ASC wins since the 2000-2001 season when Ryan Vines, Marcus Smith, and Sean Shields led the Wildcats to a 19-9 overall record with a 13-5 mark in conference play.

With one game remaining on the schedule Monday at Mississippi College, the Wildcats have secured a sixth place finish in the ASC standings and will hold the #6 seed in the ASC Tournament in Dallas next week.
