Box Score
A disappointing shooting night from the field was the difference in the Louisiana College Lady Wildcats' 80-65 loss to traditional ASC power Howard Payne on Saturday afternoon in Brownwood, TX.
Â
Despite forcing 31 turnovers to just 11 for HPU, and holding the Yellow Jackets to a 40.4% afternoon from the field, the Lady Wildcats were unable to find their touch shooting the basketball, as they shot just 26.2% (22-84) from the field for the game.
Â
LC also struggled on the boards, as the Yellow Jackets outrebounded the Lady Cats 64-40, as the HPU post presence of Sarah Van Remmen and Kalin Hanna dominated most of the day, combining for 22 rebounds and 12 of the Jackets 13 blocks.
Â
Offensively, HPU guard Danyel Bradley was unstoppable, scoring 34 points on 9-of-12 shooting, including a perfect 7-for-7 from behind the three-point line.
Â
Britani Gattis (13 points, nine rebounds) and Van Remmen (12 points, 13 rebounds) were also in double figures for the Yellow Jackets.
Â
LC, who had just two players score in double digits, was led offensively by
Neka Jones (17 points) and
Skylar Chenevert (10 points, three steals).
Â
With the loss, LC falls to 14-8 overall and 12-7 in ASC play, one half game behind HPU (14-9, 13-7) in the conference standings, as they now sit in fifth place in the ASC with three regular season games left to play. They will face Texas-Tyler, who clinched the ASC regular season title on Saturday, on Thursday night in the H.O. West Fieldhouse in a matchup scheduled for 5 p.m.Â
