Box Score
After dropping two of their last three games, the Louisiana College Lady Wildcats had a chance to crawl back to the top of the American Southwest Conference standings with a win on the road Thursday night against Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX.
Â
The UMHB duo of Taylor Tucker and Macy Moore would not allow this to happen, however, as the two combined for 50 of their team's 99 points in a 99-85 win for the Crusaders.
Â
The Lady Cats had no answer for UMHB's offense, as the Cru got out to a 53-39 lead at the half after shooting a blistering 61.8% (21-34) from the field in the first twenty minutes.
Â
The momentum would not stop in the second half for UMHB, as they went on to shoot 51.7% (15-29) from the field in the final period.
Â
Despite turning the ball over 27 times in the contest, the Crusaders were able to dominate on the glass, as they pulled down 64 rebounds compared to just 34 for the Lady Wildcats. Tucker would account for 14 of those rebounds, while Jovana Miles (11 rebounds) and Bridjai Chaney (13 rebounds) also reached double figures in that category.
Â
Despite five players reaching double digits in the scoring column, led by
Kaci Willis who recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, LC was unable to stop Tucker and Moore. Tucker finished with a game-high 26 points while Moore poured in 24 points to go along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Â
The loss drops LC to 11-6 overall and 9-5 in conference play, while UMHB moves to 11-7 overall and 11-4 in ASC play. The Lady Cats now stand at fifth place in the ASC standings with their next game scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. in Austin, TX against Concordia University.Â
