Game Two Box Score
Playing the Lady Generals of LSU-Alexandria for the first time in school history, the Louisiana College Lady Wildcats picked up a doubleheader sweep, winning game one 2-0 before taking game two 4-2.
Senior pitcher
Leslie Eastham was fantastic in game one, tossing a complete game four-hit shutout, striking out five, to fuel the 2-0 win.
LC scored both of their runs in the fifth inning when
Emorie Nugent scored on a double steal to give the Lady Wildcats their first lead at 1-0. After
Meagan Pearson was walked, catcher
Courtney Ivey laced an RBI triple to deep left center field to score Pearson and give LC a 2-0 lead, which was all Eastham would need the rest of the way.
LC wasted no time getting on the board in game two, as
Emorie Nugent led off with a double and was driven in one batter later when
Emily Douglas ripped an RBI single up the middle.
Sandra Ouchley then drove in Douglas a few batters later to make it 2-0 after one inning.
Brianna Hall and
Chelsea Allen would also add RBIs of their own in the third inning to give LC a 4-1 advantage.
Freshman Madison Vige picked up the win in game two, tossing four innings and giving up one earned run. Fellow freshman
Abby Maillet picked up her second save of the year, throwing three scoreless innings and giving up just one hit and one earned run, which came in the last inning on an RBI single to left by Amanda Harmon.
The Lady Wildcats now sit at 20-11 on the year and will face ASC rival East Texas Baptist on Tuesday in a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. in Marshall, TX.
