Coming off a record-breaking performance against The Ozarks in which they clinched the ASC Eastern Division title, the 15
th ranked Louisiana College women's basketball team suffered their first conference loss of the season, falling 74-72 to UT-Dallas on Saturday afternoon in Richardson, Tx.
After hitting a new ASC record 21 three-pointers on Thursday, the Lady Wildcats struggled from beyond the arc, going just 8-32 from the three-point line.
The biggest advantage for UT-Dallas, however, came in the rebounding department as they Comets outrebound LC 60 to 30. UT-Dallas grabbed 45 defensive rebounds compared to only 17 defensive rebounds for the Lady Wildcats.
Natosha Gottlieb did have another outstanding game for LC, as she scored 24 points on 9-18 shooting to go along with five rebounds and six steals before fouling out of the game out of the contest.
Skylar Chenevert also tied Gottlieb with a game-high six steals.
Karylon Thornton (14 points) and
Neka Jones (11 points) joined Gottlieb in double figures for the Lady Wildcats.
Morgan Kilgore, one of the ASC's best overall players, was outstanding for UT-Dallas, as she scored 23 points, going 15-16 from the free-throw line, to go along with eight rebounds.
LC now falls to 20-2 on the year, 15-1 in ASC play. They will return home on Thursday to take on East Texas Baptist at 5:30 p.m., looking to hold on to their 45 game regular season home winning streak.
