Box Score An eight-run second inning by the Pilots of LSU-Shreveport proved to be too much for the Louisiana College Wildcats, as they fell to their in-state rival by a final score of 15-5.
LC starter
Jacob Trahan started off at a rapid pace in the first inning by striking out Ridge Gonsoulin and Kyle Pearson to finish off a 1-2-3 first inning.
However, Trahan's night would take a wicked turn after that, as eight Pilot hits in the second inning, including three doubles and five singles, resulted in an eight run frame to effectively put the game out of reach for
Mike Byrnes' club.
The Wildcats did have a few bright spots with the bats, as they were able to bang out 13 hits compared to 17 for the Pilots, led by sophomore left fielder
Mark Riendeau's 4-5 night at the plate, which included an RBI triple in the seventh inning.
Sophomore Kade Billeaudeaux led the Pilots at the plate, finishing 3-5 with two RBI and a run scored.
Trahan (0-2) took the loss for LC while LSU-S junior left-hander Caleb Olson (2-1) picked up the win after working 5.1 innings, giving up six hits and striking out four.
The Wildcats move to 3-6 on the year and will look forward to a weekend series against Schreiner University, which begins Friday night at Billy Allgood Field on LC's campus.
