After going 2-2 in their final four games of the regular season, Louisiana College's opponents in the 2013 American Southwest Conference Tournament may have viewed the Lady Wildcats as being vulnerable entering the three-day conference showdown.
But a dominant 92-52 victory over the ASC West's #4 seed Mary Hardin-Baylor certainly silenced most of those critics, as the Lady Wildcats claimed their spot in Saturday's 4 p.m. semifinal game with a strong opening round statement.
LC was led by
Natosha Gottlieb, who put up a career-high 38 points on 14-23 shooting to pace the Lady Wildcats.
Gottlieb also dished out 4 assists in the contest, which brought her career total to 202, making her the first player in Louisiana College and ASC history with 1,000 career points, 500 career rebounds, 200 career assists, 200 career steals, and 100 career blocks.
UMHB, who fell to the Lady Wildcats 100-50 in December, turned the ball over 35 times compared to only 6 assists.
LC senior point guard
Shaina Howard also reached double figures for the Lady Cats, scoring 11 points to go with five assists and four steals.
Neka Jones was the Lady Wildcats in double figures as she scored 11 points.
LC now moves to 23-3 on the season, and will face Texas-Tyler in the semifinal matchup of the 2013 ASC Tournament on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m.
