Already one of the most decorated and accomplished players in school history,
Natosha Gottlieb once again stated her case that she is truly one of the nation's elite performers in a 90-59 win over East Texas Baptist in Marshall, Tx. on Saturday afternoon.
As she closes in on becoming the first player in American Southwest Conference history to register 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 200 steals, 100 blocks, and 200 assists, Gottlieb had another outstanding game against the rival ETBU. The senior from Bolton High School scored 28 points on 10-20 shooting and grabbed 7 rebounds to go along with 2 assists and 5 steals.
Her efforts did not stand alone, however, as LC got a huge boost off the bench from
Kala Chenier and
Kaci Willis. Chenier, who has taken well to a backup role after the midseason emergence of
Skylar Chenevert, scored 15 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
Willis, a versatile inside-outside performer all year for the Lady Wildcats, had her best game of the season for LC, scoring 17 points and pulling down 6 rebounds as well as 4 steals.
As usual, the difference in the contest came in the open court, as LC forced 30 turnovers, including 25 steals, while allowing only 9 assists.
The Lady Wildcats, on the other hand, had 25 assists compared to only 12 turnovers. Senior point guard
Shaina Howard led the way with a team-high 8 assists.
LC will now get a week long break before returning to the H.O. West Fieldhouse on Saturday February 2 for the annual “Field The Fieldhouse” contest against LeTourneau. That game will begin at 1 p.m.
