With a 3-game lead in the ASC East, the Louisiana College Lady Wildcats were in Tyler, Tx. on Thursday night for a tough road test against UT-Tyler. Despite not playing their best basketball, LC was still able to come away with a 61-51 victory over the Patriots.
Despite being held to nearly 30 points below their season average and attempting only 66 shots from the field, the Lady Wildcats were able to pull out the 10 point victory due in large part to forcing 24 turnovers while allowing only 8 assists to the Patriots.
UT-Tyler's Brittany King was outstanding, as she went a perfect 10-10 from the field for 21 points to go with 10 rebounds.
Karylon Thornton led LC in scoring with 13 points, including three 3-pointers, while
Natosha Gottlieb (11 points, 6 rebounds) and
Neka Jones (12 points) also scored in double-figures.
Now 17-1 on the season and a perfect 12-0 in ASC play, the Lady Wildcats will take on rival East Texas Baptist in Marshall at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
