Freshman Kevin Lewis set a new career high with 12 points to lead a spark off the bench for the Wildcats.

Since American Southwest Conference play began, the story surrounding the LC men seems to be the constant emergence of the Wildcats' tremendous class of freshman.

However, on Saturday afternoon against the Ozarks, Romanski Williams was out to prove that this year's well-seasoned senior class still has something to prove down the home stretch of ASC play, as his effort helped lead the Wildcats to a huge 98-76 victory over the Ozarks.

Williams, a senior who has improved every year since arriving in Pineville, had a career night against the Eagles, going for a career-high 26 points on 10-15 shooting and 6 rebounds.

All of those points came off the bench, as Williams led a charge that resulted in LC's bench outscoring the Ozarks' bench 57-19.

“I just try to come out and be the hype man, try to get our energy up on the court,” said Williams, “Coach Rushing challenged our bench guys to come and give us a spark, and I feel like we did a good job of that.”

Freshman Kevin Lewis also hit a new career high for points with a 12, including a few monstrous dunks that got the team, and crowd, on their feet.

“Coach (Rushing) has been giving me more freedom in our offense lately, giving me more opportunities to go 1-on-1 with defenders,” said Lewis, “We felt like our freshman class, combined with the leadership and experience of these seniors, could really help this team out.”

Senior Phillip George and freshman Kevin Cottonham showed what this mesh of experienced upper classmen and talented freshman is all about, as George had perhaps his finest outing of the season off the bench, setting up the talented freshman for a big second half.

George had 13 points on 4-5 shooting, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and a game-high 5 steals. Cottonham had 5 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and a game-high 8 assists as they two combined to have an extremely productive night from the guard position.

Phillip George is a great teammate, “ said Williams, “we feel like, no matter who we put on the court, we're going to get a great effort from them.”

The Wildcats are now 5-6 in ASC play, 5-8 overall, which puts them right in the hunt for an ASC Tournament birth. They will look to take another step towards making the postseason as they take on UT-Tyler, one of the ASC's toughest teams, on Thursday January 24th at 7:30 p.m.
