Lady Wildcats come up just short on the road vs. TLU

9/29/2012 2:54:00 AM

After falling behind 2-0 just five minutes into Friday afternoon's match vs. Texas Lutheran, the Louisiana College Lady Wildcats seemed as if they would drop their 5th consecutive contest without much of a fight.

However, after a inspired comeback after halftime, led by goals from two freshmen, Brandi Martin and Angelica Rios, LC was able to tie the game with 10 minutes left in the match.

"It was a good soccer matchand the girls showed great characterin their effort to come back in that game." said LC head coach Bruce Deaton

Courtney Brooks' goal in the 80th minute proved to be the difference as TLU walked away with a 3-2 match victory.

On the good side of things, it was a record setting day on the pitch for the Lady Wildcats, as Rios' goal marked the 13th on the season for LC, which is a new record for the LC women's program. Being that LC is only 9 games int the season, that record has a chance to be extended far beyond that.

Also, with Emily Breaux's 8 saves on the day, she now has 838 for her career, which puts her just one behind former LC goalie Carla Lambert for #1 on the ASC all-time saves list.

The loss pushed LC's record to 3-6 overall, 0-4 in the ASC. The Lady Wildcats will pick up action on Saturday September 29 as they take on Schreiner in Kerrville, Tx. at 2 p.m.
