AUSTIN, Texas – The Louisiana College baseball team faced a tough schedule throughout the regular season and, in the first round of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament, there task was no less difficult. In the end, despite the solid effort that came to epitomize the team in 2012, the Wildcats fell to defending conference champion Concordia.
LC, which finished the season with a record of 15-24, had defeated the Tornadoes (33-9) 8-5 in the first game of a best-of-3 series Friday night but fell 3-1 in 10 innings in Game 2 and 9-4 in the series-deciding game.
The Wildcats trailed 9-2 in the ninth inning of the final game and staged a rally but came up short of a comeback.

Jordan Marks (Alexandria, La./Holy Savior Menard) ended his stellar college career with a 4-for-5 showing at the plate to go along with a run scored in the final game.

Taylor Beavers (Georgetown, La./Tioga HS) went 2-for-3, sophomore designated hitter
Matt Scott (Pineville, La./Pineville HS) went 2-for-4 with three RBI and junior first baseman
Mike Doughty (Crowley, La./Crowley HS) went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Greg Uzee (Gretna, La./Archbishop Shaw) took the loss in the late game while
Madison Lachney (Iowa, La./Iowa HS) was the losing pitcher in the early contest.
Russell Johns was the winning pitcher in the early game and Austin Rupert the winner in the series finale.
Concordia was led at the plate by senior catcher Colin Janssen who went a combined 5-for-9 with three runs scored.
