Baseball falls 5-1 to Ozarks

PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana College baseball team's final home series got off to a tough start Firday night. The Wildcats struggled to get timely hits and fell 5-1 to Ozarks.

LC (13-18, 6-7 American Southwest Conference East) got eight hits on the night but left 12 men on base. Ozarks (11-21, 3-10 ASC East) got 12 hits and left just seven aboard.

Senior Justin Reed (Kinder, La./Kinder HS) took the loss and fell to 3-4 despite pitching a solid seven innings and striking out five while surrendering three earned runs.

Rodger Montano (1-2) picked up the win after pitching 3 2/3 innings in relief of starter Jeffrey Works. Montano allowed just one jits and struck out four while walking two.

Ian Bryan got his first save of the season after pitching the last three innings and striking out two while walking no one and allowing two hits.

LC's lone run was scored in the third when junior first baseman Mike Doughty (Crowley, La./Crowley HS) drove in senior designated hitter Steven Bowman (Hammond, La./Hammond HS) with a single.

Doughty was LC's top batter with a 3-for-4 showing.

Ozarks was paced by a 3-for-4 showing by designated hitter Prusator, who also scored two runs.

LC and Ozarks will conclude their series Saturday at noon with a doubleheader. Eight Wildcat seniors will be honored between games and the Wildcats will participate in Autism Awareness Month activities prior to and during the first game.
