PINEVILLE, La. – Bad luck continued to plague the Louisiana College baseball team Saturday. The Wildcats lost both halves of a doubleheader against American Southwest Conference East Division opponent Texas Dallas, 6-1 and 10-3.
LC (10-14, 4-5 ASC East) hit safely a combined 12 times on the day while committing five errors and allowing a combined 28 hits by the Comets (20-11, 9-3 ASC East).
Texas Dallas pitcher Jason Fink (4-2) threw a three-hitter to get the win in the first contest while Marvin Prestridge (6-1) got the win in Game 2 after six innings, two strikeouts, no walks and seven hits.
LC's only hits in Game 1 came from
Cole Bagbey (Monroe, La./Sterlington HS),
Jordan Marks (Alexandria, La./Holy Savior Menard HS) and
Cole Prejean (Brusly, La./Brusly HS).
In Game 2, LC was paced by three 2-for-4 performances, one apiece from
Mike Doughty (Crowley, La./Crowley HS),
Steven Bowman (Hammond, La./Hammond HS) and
Cary Myers (Zachary, La./Zachary HS).
Jake Wyand went a combined 6-for-10 to lead the Comets.
Kory Kottenbrook (Springhill, La./Springhill HS) was the losing pitcher in Game 1 and fell to 2-1 after pitching 5 1/3 and striking out three
Greg Uzee (Gretna, La./Archbishop Shaw) fell to 1-3 after taking the loss in Game 2. Uzee pitched the first 4 1/3 and struck out two.
The Wildcats return to action Tuesday night with their much-anticipated visit to LSU in Baton Rouge. The Wildcats and Tigers will square off at 6 p.m.
