Box Score
PINEVILLE, La. –The Louisiana College pitching staff and defense did a good job of eliminating LSU-Shreveport's scoring opportunities Wednesday night. The Pilot staff did better holding the LC batters to three hits in a 5-1 win for LSU-S, the No. 2-ranked team in the NAIA.
LSU-S (27-3) got 15 hits on the night but the LC pitchers, eight in all, managed to force the Pilots to leave the bases loaded three times in the game thanks to eight strikeouts and two double plays.
At the plate, though, the Wildcats struggled, striking out three times, and leaving four of their eight base runners stranded.
Shortstop
Jordan Marks, catcher
Taylor Beavers and right fielder
Adam Broussard were the only LC players to hit safely in the game, each time a single.
LC scored its run in the bottom of the fifth when left fielder
Cole Bagbey sacrifice bunted Broussard home.
Chris Bridges (0-1) took the loss for LC after surrendering a pair of earned runs in the top of the fifth. Ben Suit (2-0) picked up the win in relief for LSU-S.
David Perkins and Kyle Pearson were the top batters for the Pilots.
Perkins went 3-for-5 with an RBI while Pearson, the brother of Louisiana College softball player Meagan Pearson, went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI.
