CLINTON, Miss. – The Louisiana College baseball team took the first contest of its three-game series here Friday night, downing American Southwest Conference East Division rival Mississippi College 10-8.
The Wildcats (10-8, 4-0 ASC East) trailed 4-4 after five innings but went on to score seven combined in the seventh and eighth innings then held off a four-run rally by the Choctaws (10-13, 3-4 ASC East) in the ninth.

Matt Scott (Pineville, La./Pineville HS) junior outfielder
Adam Broussard (Nederland, Texas/Nederland HS) and sophomore infielder
Cole Prejean (Brusly, La./Brusly HS) paced the LC offence.
Scott went 3-for-6 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI while Prejean went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI and Broussard 3-for-5 with an RBI.
Junior pitcher
Kory Kottenbrook (Springhill, La./Springhill HS) picked up the win in three innings of relief for senior
Justin Reed (Kinder, La./Kinder HS).
Ian Underwood was the losing pitcher.
LC and Mississippi College will conclude their series Saturday at noon with a doubleheader.
