After handing the Lady Wildcats their first home loss in over three years in the American Southwest Conference tournament championship game in February, Concordia set out on Wednesday to have a repeat performance.
The Lady Wildcats would have it otherwise.
Outstanding play from LC's explosive sophomore backcourt duo of
Keana Frank and
Neka Jones, along with an eye-popping 38-11 turnover margin, led LC to an 82-58 victory over the Lady Tornadoes on Saturday afternoon.
Frank finished 13 points on 5-9 shooting to go along with 4 steals.
Jones, another member of Jason Tinsley's outstanding 2011 recruiting class, had one of her best shooting nights of the season, finishing with a team-high 15 points on 6-13 shooting, including 3 makes from beyond the arc.
Despite being outrebounded 60-35, the Lady Wildcats smothered the Concordia backcourt, forcing 38 turnovers to only 5 assists from the Lady Tornadoes.
LC also managed to hold Concordia scoreless from beyond the arc, as they missed all 5 attempts they took from behind the 3-point line.
Natosha Gottlieb, the two-time defending ASC Player of the Week, had another strong outing, scoring 14 points to go along with 5 assists, 3 blocks, and 8 steals.
Those 8 steals helped LC outscore CTX 32-1 in the points off turnover battles.
Now 6-0 on the season and 3-0 in the ASC, the Lady Wildcats will prepare for West division rival Mary Hardin-Baylor, who will face LC, now 25-1 in the H.O. West Fieldhouse under Jason Tinsley, at 5:30 p.m. on Monday December 10
