LC women hit century mark to move to 7-0

12/11/2012 12:47:00 AM

The Lady Wildcats came out strong and rolled their way to another lopsided win.

LC had a solid first half of shooting as they hit 17-of-45 from the field and 7-of-16 from three-point range to take a 56-29 lead at the break. Overall, the Lady Cats shot 33-of-86 from the floor (38-percent), 11-of-31 from three point range (35.5-percent) and a much improved 23-of-32 form the free throw line (72-percent).

In the second half, the Cats continued to keep the pressure on the Lady Cru who would commit just as many points as they would score - 50 - in the loss.

LC got solid contributions across the board and finished with five players in double figures. Leading the way was the much-improved sophomore Karylon Thornton who scored 18 points and came up with five steals. Senior Nathosha Gottlieb and sophomore Neka Jones both added 15 with Gottlieb contributing the normal impressive floor game - seven steals, six assists, five rebounds and two blocks. Another sophomore, Skylar Chenevert, had one of her better offensive games as she scored 12 points on 5-of-13 shooting and came up with five steals as well. Sophomore Khloe Mims gave the Cats a nice boost off the bench with 11 points including 3-of-5 from three point range, and another sophomore, point guard Keana Frank dished out nine assists to go along with her seven points.

Mary Hardin-Baylor finished with just one player in double figures. Jovana Miles scored 11 points to go along with 13 rebounds. In fact, rebounds may have been the one area the Lady Wildcats were outplayed in this game as the Lady Cru finished with 63 (including 25 on offense) to LC's 47.
