The Louisiana College Lady Wildcats, the preseason favorite to win the American Southwest Conference's Eastern Division, started off their season in typical high-scoring fashion on thursday night, defeating Millsaps 97-77 in Jackson, Ms.
Natosha Gottlieb, the ASC East presason player of the year, turned in a tremendous stat-sheet stuffing performance. The senior from Alexandria scored 17 points and grabbed 6 rebounds to go along with 5 steals and a block.
Danisha Allison was also outstanding, as she scored 16 points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds, 11 of those coming on the offensive end.
Also registering double digits points for the Lady Wildcats were
Kala Chenier and
Mallory Horn, who both scored 12 points.
Kaci Willis grabbed 11 rebounds (6 offensive and 5 defensive) to go along with 2 assists, 3 steals, and a block.
The biggest difference in the game, as is most often-times the case for the up-tempo Lady Wildcats, was 3 point shooting and turnovers, as LC out shot Millsaps 18 to 6 from deep, while forcing 23 turnovers to Millsaps' 13.
The Lady Wildcats will come back home to Pineville to take on former ASC member Centenary in their home opener on Monday November 15 at 5:30 p.m.
