Box Score
PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana College women gave themselves a two-game cushion in the American Southwest Conference East Division race here Saturday afternoon, downing Texas Dallas 64-54.
With the win, LC (14-2, 11-1 ASC) avoided falling into a tie for first place in the ASC East with the Comets (15-3, 11-3 ASC) and continued a more-than-three-year-long home winning streak.
While the Lady Cats, who've scored 100 or more points five times this season, did not have their standard offensive outpouring, they still managed to win thanks to the familiar theme of solid defense and forced turnovers.
LC forced the Comets into 32 turnovers, 17 by virtue of a steal, which led to 26 points.
Sophomore forward
Melody Criswell (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound HS) paced the LC offense with 12 points to go along with three rebounds.
Senior guards
Roslyn Wilmer (Marksville, La./Marksville HS) and
Shaina Howard (Scott, La./Acadiana HS) added nine points apiece in the win.
Brittany Houston scored 15 to lead the charge for the Comets.
LC returns to action on Thursday with a visit to ASC East opponent Texas-Tyler.
