Baseball takes Game 1 at Ozarks

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – The Wildcats started their three-game American Southwest Conference East Division Series with Ozarks off with a bang, downing the Eagles 12-6 to maintain their grasp on first place.

The LC offense was firing on all cylinders with virtually every Wildcat who came to the plate having at least one meaningful hit.

Junior second baseman Jordan Marks (Alexandria, La./Holy Savior Menard/LSU-Alexandria) connected on his team-leading sixth home run of the season en route to a 2-for-4, two-RBI, three-runs-scored performance at the dish.

Senior catcher Chris Waguespack (Destrehan, La./St. Charles Catholic/Delgado CC) went 4-for-5 with a run scored and four RBI while senior center fielder Cody Laprarie (Bentley, La./Grant HS/LSU-Alexandria) went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Freshman designated hitter Matt Scott (Pineville, La./ Pineville HS) went 2-for-6 with a home run and a two runs scored, senior shortstop Steven Davis (Monroe, La./Ouachita Parish HS) 2-for-6 with a pair of runs scored, senior third baseman Brandt Daigle (Alexandria, La./Alexandria Senior HS) 2-for-5 with two RBI and sophomore right fielder Cole Bagbey (Monrore, La./Sterlington HS) 2-for-4 with a run scored.

The Eagles top batter was Mitchell Powers, who went 3-for-4 with a run scored.

Senior Josh Foster (Houma, La./Winnfield HS)earned the win and improved to 5-1 on the season after pitching the first five full innings of the contest and striking out three while scattering seven hits.

Tyler Erickson (1-5) took the loss for Ozarks.

The Wildcats and Eagles will conclude their series Saturday with a noon doubleheader.
